We set up the technology your small business needs to get off the ground.

Website, business email, payments, passwords. A real person does it with you, in person around the East Bay, for a fixed price. Every account is in your name, and once it is running you fly it yourself.

A large four-engine plane releasing a small orange rocket plane high in the stratosphere The big plane carries the small one to altitude. The small one drops away, lights its rocket and flies ahead on its own.

The first plane to fly faster than sound did not take off under its own power. A bigger plane carried it up and let it go. That is the job we do for your business.

Four promises before we leave the ground

A real person does the work.

Not a chatbot and not a call centre. Someone sits down with you, at your shop or your kitchen table if you are in the East Bay, by video if you are not.

Everything is yours.

Every account is opened in your name. Your data and your website's code live in places you control. You can remove our access yourself, any time, without asking us.

The price is the price.

Fixed prices, written down before we start. No hourly meter running in the background and no surprise invoice at the end.

Then you fly it, or keep us on call.

We show you how to run it all yourself. If you would rather not, a small monthly membership keeps us looking after it.

Where is the AI?

In the back room, where tools belong. We use it to work faster and to help you edit your own website. It never picks up when you ask for help. A person does.

What goes aboard

Most small businesses need the same handful of things. We set up the ones you need and leave out the ones you do not.

Your domain name

yourbusiness.com, registered to you. Not to us, and not to a web designer who might move away.

Business email

you@yourbusiness.com on every phone and computer you use. It looks professional, and the mailbox belongs to you.

A website you can edit yourself

Need to change your hours or add a photo? Type what you want in plain English and it is done. The site is yours, not locked inside a site builder.

Payments

Take cards and send invoices through Stripe. The money lands in your own bank account.

Passwords and secure sharing

One password manager for the whole business. Give your bookkeeper a login without texting it to them.

Team chat and alerts

A private line for your team on Signal, with Undercurrent on top: alerts when something needs your attention, and a direct way to reach us.

App-store launch if you need it

Have an app? We get it into the Apple and Google stores under developer accounts that belong to you.

The climb, and what each stage costs

Start wherever you are. Each price is fixed and paid once, unless it says per month.

Rent or own: the receipt

Owning your setup costs far less than paying for a plan in every category, and about the same as getting by on the cheapest ones. What changes is who holds the keys. Here are the sums.

A one-person business

What the tools cost to keep, per year

  • Renting a paid plan for every job$1,536
  • Renting the cheapest plans, free where one exists$312
  • Our setup, on your own accounts$314

Against paid plans you keep about $1,220 a year. Against the cheapest plans, nothing: you pay the same and own all of it.

A team of five

What the tools cost to keep, per year

  • Renting a paid plan for every job$3,602
  • Renting the cheapest plans, free where one exists$1,008
  • Our setup, on your own accounts$870

Against paid plans, about $2,730 a year. Against the cheapest plans, about $140.

These are list prices for yearly billing, read on 9 October 2026. They change. A paid plan for every job means a website builder, a project board, a password manager, booking, forms, a customer list, newsletters, uptime alerts and business email, plus team chat for five. Our setup is your domain, business email, a password manager and one AI subscription in your name, with website hosting and the Launchpad apps at no monthly charge. You pay each provider directly and we add nothing on top.

The two are not the same goods. Our setup has no newsletter tool and no customer database, so if you need one you still rent it. The Launchpad project board is a Mac app for one person at a time, not a shared team board. Hiring a freelancer to build a website, with a care plan to look after it, runs about $3,068 in the first year. Mach 1 with a year of LTS is $2,940.

How a flight goes

Five steps, from a free conversation to the day you take the controls.

  1. Pre-flight check

A free half hour, in person or by video. You tell us about the business. We tell you what you need.

  2. Flight plan

You get a written plan and a fixed price. Nothing starts until you say go.

  3. Carried to altitude

We set everything up together. Each account is opened in your name, and each password goes into your own vault.

  4. Test flight

You change your own website, send a test invoice and add a teammate while we watch. Anything confusing gets fixed or explained.

  5. Release

We hand you a one-page record of everything you own and how to reach it. You fly on, or keep us on the radio with LTS.

A neighbourhood outfit, on purpose

People first

Your first conversation and your setup are always with a person. Automation comes later, and only where it helps you.

Local

We start in the East Bay, because sitting across a table is the quickest way to earn trust. Farther away, we work by video.

A crew with a future

Every support job we create goes to someone at the start of their career: hired part-time, trained properly and paid for real work, at a time when first jobs are hard to find.

Here for the long haul

We are built for small businesses that plan to be around in ten years. Think of the shop that knows your name, not a company chasing a million users.

Who is flying the big plane

I am an engineer and a founder. In college I did at-home support for Apple, which is where I learned that good technical help is mostly patience and plain English. These days I build secure-communications software at Undercurrent, a company I started. Johnny Blastoff exists because friends and family kept asking me the same thing: “Can you just set this up for me?” Yes. I can.
